Zion Choral Welcomes You
To 80 Years of Praise and Worship

   "A Hallelujah Celebration!"

Thank you for joining us in this special 80th celebration.  We have much to celebrate.

First and foremost, we celebrate God’s faithfulness and love.  We celebrate Jesus’ work on the cross and His victory over death.  We celebrate the Holy Spirit’s counsel as we walk through this life.

We celebrate those who led this choir and brought us to the place where we are today.  J. Claude Harwick started the Zion Choral Society with a male chorus in 1929.  He later added ladies to this chorus.  He was succeeded by Albert F. Schuster and Al’s daughter, Maxine S. Waldman.

I, Karen L. Shelly, now have the honor of directing this wonderful choir.  I had the privilege of singing under Claude, Al, and Maxine.  They all made an impact in my life and in the lives of many.

We celebrate the lives of all those who sang in Zion Choral, and those who presently singing the choir.  We meet at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church located in Zion Hill.  Yes, we meet to rehearse, but we also take time to pray together.  Sometimes we cry together, and many times we laugh together.  We have become a family.  We come from many different churches and denominations and are always glad to have new people join us.  I’m so glad that when we get to heaven, God won’t ask what church we attended.  He is more interested in our relationship with Him.

And we celebrate you.  We thrilled that you came to praise the Lord with us.  Our prayer is that you are blessed and encouraged as we worship the Lord together.

                                         HALLELUJAH!  PRAISE THE LORD!

Hallelujah is one of the most commonly used praise words today.  It is a Hebrew word meaning, “Praise the Lord.”  Psalm 106, 111, 112, 113, 135, 146, 147, 148, 149, and 150 are known as the “Hallelujah Psalms.”  All of these Psalms begin with “Praise the Lord.”

“After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: “Hallelujah!”   Revelation 19:1.
