Zion Choral returns for its 79th season of music ministry. We are thankful for God’s grace and strength as we share this ministry with you.
Zion Choral was founded in 1929 as male chorus by J. Claude Harwick. He directed the choir until 1980. Albert F. Schuster, Maxine S. Waldman, and Karen L. Shelly succeeded him.
Zion’s annual ministry tour includes six churches in Eastern Pennsylvania. Rehearsals begin in August to prepare the choir for the concerts, which begin in October. These rehearsals are held at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zion Hill, Pa. from which the choir derives its name.
All participants are volunteers who represent many churches. They come from all walks of life, and travel from as far away as the Pocono’s. We have become a family who sings to glorify God. Who is worthy of all praise.
Albert Schuster understood God’s grace and is now in Heaven in the presence of God with Claude Harwick. Both he and Claude will be missed, but the celebration goes on.
Please welcome John L. Schwartz, our accompanist on the piano. John earned his Bachelor of Science in Music Education Degree from West Chester University with a piano and vocal performance concentration. He also attended the Governor's School for the Arts as a vocal/piano scholarship recipient. John shared his music with congregations in Conshohocken and Norristown. He currently serves as Minister of Music and pianist for Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Quakertown.
This year we are excited to celebrate "Jesus Is Coming". For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast". Ephesians 2:8-9
